The Providence Bruins are seeing another forward leave as Matej Blumel has reportedly signed with HC Sparta Praha in Czechia. Blumel played in 58 games this season, recording 52 points on 21 goals and 31 assists. He was a +23 with six power-play goals and three game-winning goals. He was fourth on the team in points, third in goals, and third in assists. Blumel was also fourth in plus/minus and was tied for the team lead in power-play goals. In four playoff games, he had two goals, one of those on the power play, and he was a minus-one. He also played in four games for the Boston Bruins, but he failed to record a point and was a minus-three.

The Edmonton Oilers drafted him 100th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Blumel has appeared in 255 career AHL games, recording 230 points on 110 goals and 120 assists. He’s a +36 with 35 power-play goals, two shorthanded goals, and 15 game-winning goals. In 31 career Calder Cup Playoff games, he has 28 points on 14 goals and 14 assists. He was a +13 with four power-play goals, a shorthanded goal, and two game-winning goals. Blumel has appeared in 17 career NHL games, scoring two goals; he was a minus-six. He played in Czechia before he turned pro.
