AHL: Providence Bruins Send Nine to Maine Mariners

The Providence Bruins had two preseason games over the weekend against the Springfield Thunderbirds. They won both games, winning Saturday 4-3 in overtime, then again on Sunday 4-1. The Bruins released forwards Ben Allison, Wyllum Deveaux, Ryan McGuire, and Antonio Venuto, and defensemen Jack Bar and Jaxon Bellamy. They loaned forwards Robert Cronin and Nolan Renwick to Maine. They also reassigned goalie Max Lundgren to Maine.

Allison scored a goal in one of the two preseason games and was even in plus/minus. Deveaux didn’t register a point and was even in plus/minus. McGuire had an assist and was a minus-one. Venuto was a plus-one. Bar had an assist and was a plus-two. Bellamy played in only one game and finished as a minus-one. Cronin led the way, scoring a goal in each preseason game and finished as a minus-one. Renwick was a plus-two. Lundgren didn’t appear in either game.

The Providence Bruins open their season Friday night at home against the Utica Comets, with puck drop set for 7:05 PM EST. The Mariners play two preseason games next weekend against the Worcester Railers. Friday’s game is at Harold Alfond Forum at 7:00 PM EST. The other game will be Saturday at 7:00 M EST at the Worcester Ice Center.
