Tonight, the Providence Bruins and Hartford Wolf Pack faced off at the Amica Mutual Pavilion in Providence, RI. The Bruins came into the game riding a three-game winning streak. During the streak they’re averaging 3.3 goals per game while allowing 1.7 goals per game. The Wolf Pack came into the game on a four-game losing streak. They’re averaging 2.3 goals per game while allowing 3.5 goals per game. Michael DiPietro got the start in net for the Bruins posting a 6-0-0 record. He had a 2.05 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage. Dylan Garand got the start in goal for Hartford posting a 3-4-1 record. He had a 2.68 goals-against average, a .895 save percentage, and a shutout.

Hartford Wolf Puck vs. Providence Bruins 

First Period

The Bruins dominated the first period but had nothing to show for it as they outshot the Wolf Pack 15-5 in the opening 20 minutes. Neither team found the back of the net. Providence did have a power play but they couldn’t convert on the man advantage. 

Second Period

In the middle period, Providence got the scoring started. With just under six minutes left in the period, Joey Abate scored his first goal of the season. The Wolf Pack struck back with under two minutes left in the period Justin Dowling scored his third of the season. Both teams had a power play opportunity but neither team converted on the opportunity. Providence outshot Hartford 14-9 in the middle frame. 

Third Period

The Bruins with over seven minutes left in the final period took the lead behind captain Patrick Brown’s power-play goal. It was his sixth goal of the season. With just over two minutes left in the game, the Wolf Pack tied things up again as Dylan Roobroeck scored his fourth of the season. Neither team could find the game-winner even with the Wolf Pack getting a late power play and the game would head to overtime. Hartford outshot Providence 12-10 in the period 

Overtime

In the extra period, the Bruins won it behind Fabian Lysell scoring his sixth of the year on a beautiful shot to beat Garand. Providence dominated the overtime period outshooting Hartford 6-2. 

Wrap Up

DiPietro stopped 26 of the 28 shots he faced Garand stopped 42 of the 45 shots he faced. Lysell was named the first star finishing with a goal and an assist. Brown was the second star with a goal and an assist. The third star was Abate finishing with a goal. 

Next Up

The Bruins are back Saturday against the Utica Comets, puck drop is set for 7:05 PM EST. The Wolf Pack will play on Friday night at home against the Rochester Americans, the game is set for 7:00 PM EST.
