The Springfield Thunderbirds last night signed Massachusetts native forward Chris Wagner to a two-year deal. Wagner last season in 44 games with the Colorado Eagles recorded 31 points on 19 goals and 12 assists. He was a plus-seven and had seven power-play goals. In nine games in the Calder Cup Playoffs, he had three points on two goals and an assist. He was a -16 and had a power-play goal. Wagner was born in Walpole, MA, which is just over two hours from the MassMutual Center.

The Anaheim Ducks drafted the six-foot, 192-pound forward in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has played 401 games over 11 NHL seasons, recording 66 points on 39 goals and 27 assists. Wagner is a -32 with 218 penalty minutes and three power-play goals. He spent time with the Ducks, had two separate stints with the Colorado Avalanche, and also played for the New York Islanders and Boston Bruins. Wagner played 428 career games in the AHL, recording 209 points on 116 goals and 93 assists. He is a plus-eight with 413 penalty minutes and 22 power-play goals. In 32 career Calder Cup Playoff games, he’s recorded 13 points on seven goals and six assists. He is a minus-three with 32 penalty minutes and two power-play goals.
