This morning, it was confirmed that AHL defenseman Stanislav Svozil is signing to play with HC Kometa Brno in Czechia. Svozil, this past season, in 41 games, recorded seven points on a goal and six assists. He was a plus-two with a game-winning goal. In nine Calder Cup Playoff games, he had three assists and was a plus-two.
Svozil spent six seasons playing in Czechia, growing up where he appeared in 214 games in different leagues, recording 137 points on 40 goals and 97 assists; he was a +97. He joined the WHL in 2021-22, playing with the Regina Pats, where in 59 games, he had 41 points on ten goals and 31 assists. He was a -14. In 2022-23, he played in 56 games for the Pats, recording 78 points on 11 goals and 67 assists; he was a +27. In seven playoff games, he had 13 points on four goals and nine assists; he was a plus-seven. He played in the World Juniors Championship, where in six games he had a goal and two assists and was even in plus/minus.
The Columbus Blue Jackets drafted Svozil 69th overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He joined the organization in 2022-23, where he appeared in two games for Columbus, recording an assist and a minus-three. He also played in one game for Cleveland, where he had two assists and was a plus-two. Svozil also appeared in seven games in the World Juniors Championship, where he had eight points on a goal and seven assists and was a plus-three.
He would appear in 162 games in the AHL, recording 56 points on ten goals and 46 assists. He was a plus-two with two power-play goals and five game-winning goals. In 29 Calder Cup Playoff games, he had seven assists and was a plus-four.
