Alexander Ovechkin had a bit of an injury scare on Monday as he winced in pain within minutes of the Washington Capitals' latest team skate.
This morning, however, Ovi and the Capitals got some fantastic news. Firstly, Ovechkin is celebrating his 39th birthday, which is absolutely a cause for celebration. Moreover, he is already back on the ice despite what went down on Monday.
As The Hockey News reports, Ovechkin was in high spirits. Moreover, he took part in passing and shooting drills which just goes to show he is doing just fine. He showed no weaknesses during the practice, and now, Capitals fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Ovi will be off of the ice until Thursday, when the team officially begins training camp.
This is a big year for the Washington Capitals legend. He is 41 goals away from tying Wayne Gretzky's all-time record. Fans are very curious as to whether or not he will be able to officially break it. It might be difficult this season, but the 2025-26 campaign certainly seems likely, especially if Ovechkin manages to stay healthy.
