NHL Wednesday bets: Plus-money props for the three-game slate

We've begun the week with two straight nights of profit, a trend we may as well keep rolling. There are just three games tonight on the ice, but each of these NHL matchups offer up some solid value. I was a bit surprised to find how many plus-money looks I like. Let's dig in.

Tim Stutzle over 2.5 SOG (+104 FD)

Let's go right back to Tim Stutzle, who has now gone over 2.5 shots in five of his last six games and four straight at home.

Ottawa as a team tends to dominate shots, which should behoove Stutzle and much of the Senators lineup. Given the price at +104, this is the best option I see. Buffalo is allowing 34.7 shots per game on the road this year.

.5u: Stutzle goal (+230 CZR)

Jonathan Toews over 2.5 SOG (+130 DK)

I'm taking the plunge once again on Jonathan Toews, who broke my heart with a goose egg against the Ducks on Saturday.

Toews bounced back on Monday, piling up five SOG against Carolina, marking the third time in his last four at home that he's gone over 2.5. This +130 spot draws me in, as Toews has 5+ attempts in three of his past four games and St. Louis is seeing 37.3 shots per game against them on the road.

Toews has a goal in four of his last five home games, so I'll tack that on here as well.

.5u: Toews goal (+285 CZR)

Ryan O'Reilly over 2.5 SOG (+120 DK)

It's always wise to at least consider a shot prop for someone playing Chicago. The Blachawks have allowed the fourth-most shots per game this season, and they haven't gotten much tighter when at home.

O'Reilly is over 2.5 in five of his last six on the road, bringing forth a solid base of 4+ attempts in each of those games. Given the opponent and what appears to be some rising involvement, I like O'Reilly here, and love the price.

Connor McDavid goal (+104 CZR)

Let me begin by saying that I absolutely love Connor McDavid's shots. If you need a parlay piece, go for his shots. Los Angeles hands out penalties and their one clear vulnerability is from the center position.

McDavid has 4+ shots in seven of nine at home and leads Edmonton in power play shots.

The price is a bit too juiced for me, so I'll opt for McDavid's goal. The Kings are allowing 4.1 goals per game on the road and have one of the league's worst penalty killing units.

Given McDavid's volume, I like his chances to net one. He has 10 goals in his last nine games and scored in seven of 11 meetings with Los Angeles last season.

Anze Kopitar over 2.5 SOG (+125 DK)

There's a hint of sentimentality here with a bet on Kopitar. Those who have been with me since last season are sure to remember the run Kopitar delivered us in the first round series against Edmonton. Kopitar went over 2.5 shots in the final six games of that series, finishing with 4+ shots five times.

Each time, he was handed to us on a silver platter at plus-odds, and thanks to the power play opportunities the Kings so often got from the Oilers, Kopitar was able to get us his shots. In total, the Los Angeles top-line center went over 2.5 in nine of 11 meetings with Edmonton last season.

Fast forward a year, and Kopitar has been far more inconsistent and hasn't had his typical volume on the power play.

Here's why I'm willing to take him tonight anyway. For starters, the Oilers have been peppered every night. They allow 33.4 shots per game at home and are more penalized than any other team, resulting in the third-most power play shots allowed per game.

Three of Kopitar's four power-play shots on the season have come in the last five games, which has me wondering if he's perhaps reclaiming that role from year's past. Tack on that the Oilers are allowing the third-most shots per game to centers, and I'm taking the Kopitar ride tonight at +125.

.5u: Kopitar goal (+320 CZR)

Love to see all our looks come in at plus-odds, let's pile up some wins on the ice tonight, good luck!
