An increase of about 20% for the price of the Maple Leafs season tickets

The cost of living is always increasing and the price of tickets to attend sports events is also following this trend. When it comes to season tickets, the increase can sometimes be major.

This is precisely the case for season tickets for the Maple Leafs’ next campaign.

According to James Mirtle of The Athletic, the value of Maple Leafs season tickets is expected to see an increase of around 20% in certain sections of the Scotiabank Arena.

The increase is not the same everywhere. In fact, the average increase in season ticket prices is 9%. Except that some sections are getting a worse deal than others with increases exceeding 20%.

One of the largest increases belongs to one of the upper sections. The price of $8,522 in 2024-25 will rise to $10,396 for the 2025-26 season. That’s an increase of nearly $2,000!

A spokesperson for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment explained to Mirtle that the reason for an increase of around 20% for the price of certain sections is that the price in the past was too low compared to other markets.

No candy for Maple Leafs fans. If you can’t afford it, there’s a waiting list of 12,000 people who will come and take your place with joy.

This is precisely the kind of attitude from MLSE that has completely changed the face of Maple Leafs fans.

Real fans can no longer afford tickets. Some season ticket holders are even considering not renewing their subscription. This leaves room for richer people, but who don’t necessarily have the team at heart, to buy them.

The atmosphere in Toronto is flat because the people who can afford tickets are not all die-hard fans.

The increase in the price of tickets for the playoffs has also increased by around $2,000.

Has Toronto really presented performances interesting enough in recent years to increase the price of their tickets so drastically? No.

A few weeks ago, the New York Rangers announced an increase in the price of certain season tickets, but they also specified that there would be no increase if the team did not make the playoffs.

We will increase the price of tickets, but we want to earn it.

If the Maple Leafs want to get out of this story, they will have to offer good performances to their fans during the playoffs. Winning more than one round would be a start.
