Another Boston Bruins Member is Olympic Bound

The Boston Bruins now have seven members of their team headed to Milan, Italy, for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Team Sweden has added defenseman Hampus Lindholm as an injury replacement for Jonas Brodin, according to TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston. Lindholm joins a Bruins list that includes USA’s Charlie McAvoy and Jeremy Swayman, Czechia’s David Pastrnak and Pavel Zacha, Finland’s Henri Jokiharju, and Lindholm’s fellow Swedish teammate Elias Lindholm.

The 32-year-old defenseman has three goals and 16 points in 39 games for the Boston Bruins this season while averaging 22:04 of ice time. The blueliner missed much of last season with a fractured kneecap.

The 6-foot-4, left-shot defenseman will be replacing Wild defenseman Brodin, who was shut down with a lower-body injury. Sweden is seeking their first Olympic gold medal in men’s hockey since claiming victory at The Winter Olympics in 2006. Lindholm last played internationally for Sweden in the 2018 World Championships and collected six assists in 10 games.

Former Bruins forward Marcus Johansson of the Minnesota Wild was also added to the team, which kicks off their tournament on February 11 against host Italy.
