Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid continued a remarkable goal-scoring stretch Wednesday, tallying twice against the Toronto Maple Leafs to increase his multi-score streak to five games.
McDavid is only the fifth player in NHL history to have five straight games with two or more goals, per ESPN Stats and Info. He joins Alexander Mogilny and Hall of Famers Mario Lemieux, Joe Malone and Punch Broadbent as the only players to accomplish the feat.
If McDavid can bury two or more goals Friday against the Winnipeg Jets, he'll equal Broadbent and Malone for the longest multi-goal streak in NHL history.
McDavid wasted little time grabbing his pair of goals on Wednesday night, netting both in the opening period.
Only 3:49 into the first, McDavid scored the first goal of the game, banging home a rebound on the power play.

McDavid scored his second goal 10 minutes and four seconds later, weaving his way past defenders after corralling a loose puck in the neutral zone before promptly beating Toronto goaltender Ilya Samsonov five-hole.

The 23-year-old finished with three points, scoring twice and adding a helper in the Oilers' 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Over his last five games, McDavid has registered 10 goals and six assists for a jaw-dropping 16 points.
McDavid leads the NHL in points with 115, 26 more than teammate Leon Draisaitl, who is second in the league with 89 points.
Nearly two weeks after crossing the 100-point mark for a historic fifth time in his career, McDavid continues to wow fans. What else does he have in store? The hockey world waits excitedly.
