Lane Hutson is an immense talent on the ice in Montreal, but now teammate Arber Xhekaj has shared an embarrassing story about the Calder Trophy winner.

The 2024/25 season saw many incredible overarching stories in the National Hockey League, but no one caught the attention of fans quite like Montreal Canadiens star rookie Lane Hutson, who came home with the coveted Calder Trophy as the Rookie of the Year.

His game is predicated on skill, as the blue liner notched an impressive 60 assists and 66 points across 82 games played, wowing fans and opposing teams with his slick moves and the way he was able to change games for Montreal.

One phase of the game that he needs to work on is physicality, and that has been shown by teammate Arber Xhekaj, who shared what some might see as an embarrassing story about his rookie teammate this past season.

'He said sorry when a guy took a penalty on him one time. I was like 'that's crazy, do not ever apologize to a single guy out there.'

Xhekaj is known as one of the toughest young players in the NHL, so when Hutson apologized to an opponent after someone took a penalty on him, 'The Sheriff' immediately stepped in and told the 21-year old to never apologize to opponents on the ice.

At 5-foot-9 and 162 pounds, there's never going to be a player on the ice that Hutson is able to intimidate with his physicality, but if he plays with an edge and isn't so forgiving, this is a player that could become one of the top names in the entire league.

Ultimately, this is going to be a very funny story to look back on for Hutson one day, especially if he continues his current trajectory as a potential star in the league, and while he'll never be a physical threat, if he continues to play like he did a year ago, the Canadiens could be very scary in 2025/26.
