Arizona Coyotes re-sign goaltender Connor Ingram to three-year contract

The Arizona Coyotes have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with goaltender Connor Ingram, PHNX Sports’ Craig Morgan reported Saturday afternoon.

Ingram, 26, posted a 6–13–8 record and a .907 save percentage in 27 games with the Coyotes during the 2022–23 regular season.

According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, Ingram’s new contract carries a $1.95 cap hit through 2026, at which point he’ll be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent.

Ingram had been set to become a restricted free agent with arbitration rights on July 1 of this year.

The Coyotes originally claimed Ingram off waivers from the Nashville Predators on Oct. 10, 2022. Ingram had made his NHL debut with the Predators late in the 2021–22 season before appearing in four additional games with the club during the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Tampa Bay Lightning originally selected Ingram in the third round (No. 88 overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft. The six-foot-two goaltender spent three seasons developing in the Lightning organization before being traded to the Predators in 2019.

Ingram cost just $733,333 against the Coyotes’ salary cap ceiling during the 2022–23 season. Barring any future changes, both Ingram and Karel Vejmelka will once again form the Coyotes’ tandem next year, with Russian prospect Ivan Prosvetov continuing to develop in the American Hockey League.

Earlier on Saturday, the Coyotes acquired defenseman Sean Durzi from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft. The Coyotes have missed the playoffs in 10 of the last 11 seasons but took a step forward last year, with top forward Clayton Keller tying the club record for points in a season.

With Ingram now signed, the Coyotes have three notable RFA forwards still to sign this summer: Matias Maccelli, Jack McBain, and Christian Fischer. The deadline to qualify restricted free agents has been set for June 30.
