Arizona Coyotes TV Viewership Skyrocketed Since Leaving Bally Sports
Christopher Hanewinckel-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Coyotes have announced that since changing broadcast partners to Scripps Sports, game viewership has jumped over 900%.

Also, during the Quarter 3 (Q3) E.W. Scripps Earnings Call, President, CEO & Director Adam P. Symson stated the statistic as the games are now more reachable than ever before.

“In Phoenix, the Arizona Coyotes’ ratings have increased a whopping 900% of from their RSN distribution last year,” Symson said.

Previously, the Coyotes were the last professional sports team in Arizona to withhold a contract with Diamond Sports Net Arizona, owner of Bally Sports Arizona, until Oct. 5.

However, due to filing for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, Diamond Sports and the Coyotes agreed to terminate their deal and go their separate ways.

Since then, Scripps Sports and the Coyotes organization have mutually agreed to a multi-year contract with each other on the same day as the deal with Diamond Sports ended.

On Antenna TV, games have been on antenna channel 15.2 (KXNV.2) and on channel 95 for COX cable customers.

In Tucson, they have been broadcasted on KGUN 9.2, Comcast channel 1179 and COX channel 85.

But, there have been a few this season on KASW CW61 or COX channel 6.

The addition of Coyotes fans being able to watch games with an antenna or from multiple cable providers has opened up more opportunities to expand viewership.

On the other hand, there is no direct-to-consumer, streaming service and certain cable companies like DirectTV who can’t broadcast the games from their end, at the time of reporting.

Once those doors start to open, the possibilities are endless with how many ‘Yotes fan can watch their favorite hockey team from around the valley.
