Arpon Basu Proposes Multi-Piece Trade Involving Two Canadiens Regulars

We are just a few weeks away from the NHL trade deadline, and there's still uncertainty about whether Kent Hughes will be a buyer or a seller by March 7.

If the Canadiens fall out of the race in the coming weeks, it's highly likely that the team's general manager will look to offload some assets set to become free agents at the end of the season.

That includes players like David Savard, Christian Dvorak, as well as Joel Armia and Jake Evans.

While the Canadiens aren't expected to get much in return for Dvorak and Savard, things could be different when it comes to Armia and Evans, and one journalist has proposed a very intriguing idea for Kent Hughes.

Trading Jake Evans and Joel Armia together as a package to secure a much bigger return?

According to Arpon Basu, who covers the Canadiens for The Athletic, he has suggested that Joel Armia and Jake Evans should be part of the same trade.

"[Arpon] Basu floated the idea of trading Armia and Evans as a 'package.'

The other team would be acquiring the best penalty-killing duo in the league and a ready-made fourth line with built-in chemistry.

That could bring back a huge haul in return.
