Miner, 25, is now eligible to be claimed by any of the other 31 NHL teams. If he clears waivers, Colorado will be able to assign him to the American Hockey League (AHL).
The Brandon, Manitoba native began this season on the Avalanche’s injured/non-roster list due to an undisclosed injury, and has yet to see any game action.
Last season, Miner made three starts and four appearances at the NHL level for Colorado, posting a 1-0-3 record with a .933 save percentage and a 2.03 goals-against average. He spent the majority of last season with the AHL’s Colorado Eagles, where he put up a 17-8-5 record with a .904 SV% and a 2.62 GAA in 32 appearances. He then went 11-6 with a .925 SV% and a 1.87 GAA in 17 postseason games during the Eagles’ run to the Western Conference final of the Calder Cup playoffs.
Miner’s only other NHL experience came in the 2024-25 season, when he made one start and two appearances for the Avalanche, going 0-1-0 with a .879 SV% and a 2.62 GAA.
Selected by Colorado in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Miner became a full-time professional in the 2021-22 season after a strong four-year junior career with the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League (WHL). He split time between the Eagles and the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies over the first few years of his career, before establishing himself at the AHL level in the 2024-25 season, in which he posted a 22-10-6 record with a .918 SV% and a 2.12 GAA.
The Avalanche will host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday visiting the Dallas Stars on Tuesday for the first game in a home-and-home set.
