Bad news for Jakub Dobes as Canadiens make two announcements

We have two pieces of news to share following Wednesday's press conference with Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis.

First, we knew that the decision on the starting goalie for Thursday would say a lot about the hierarchy of the Canadiens' goalies.

Well, bad news for young Jakub Dobes, as he is still the number two goalie, and it is Samuel Montembeault who will be starting Thursday in Detroit.

For the first time in a while, Dobes will therefore miss his turn.

Samuel Montembeault in goal and no further call-up from Laval Rocket

The other matter we were closely monitoring was the possibility of another call-up from Laval, knowing that Owen Beck had been reassigned.

St-Louis announced that there will be no further call-ups, and the team will go to Detroit with the current roster, meaning Michael Pezzetta is likely to rejoin the lineup as soon as Thursday night against the Red Wings.

At 23 years old, 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, Dobes has a record of 5-0-0 this season, with a goals-against average of 1.55 and a save percentage of 0.941.

At 28 years old, 6-foot-3 and 218 pounds, Montembeault has a record of 17-16-3 this season, with a goals-against average of 2.95 and a save percentage of 0.899.
