Good news, everyone! We are now less than a month away until training camps and preseason are underway. Finally, after a very lengthy offseason of very little happening, there is something to talk about.
Today’s topic, you ask? Single game tickets are going on sale for the 2025–26 season. Now you can start planning your hockey trips and figuring out which evenings you’re unavailable.
Not all games are built the same, however. Some have a significantly higher chance of being exciting and entertaining games than others. Maybe its a rivalry matchup, maybe a star opposition player is headed into town.
Whatever it is, here are some of the must-see home games for the Edmonton Oilers in the 2025–26 season that you should consider buying a ticket for.
The 2025–26 season starts off with a bang with two major rivalry games right out of the gate. The season, and home, opener will be hosting the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, October 8. Followed by the Vancouver Canucks on the 11.
The early season is road-heavy with only a few home games every month. But right before Christmas, we get to see a couple more rivals make a stop at Rogers Place. On December 21, the Vegas Golden Knights are headed to Edmonton. And on the 23, the Flames make their second trip up to face their rival.
The Los Angeles Kings make their first appearance in Edmonton on January 10, for those who wish to see another rematch of the first round of the playoffs.
After two consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearances against each other, the Florida Panthers are now a major rival. They will be making their stop in Edmonton on March 19.
And finally, a couple more rival matchups in April to wrap up the season. Vegas makes another appearance in Edmonton on April 4. And in the final game of the regular season on the 16, the Canucks are in town.
Even though we get the luxury of seeing two of the best players in the world on a regular basis, other teams’ star players are also worth seeing. Especially when some of them are seemingly about to retire soon. Here are opposition players that you might want to buy a ticket to watch this season!
The Montreal Canadiens might be a team on the rise, and it could be a worthwhile experience to see them in the early stages. When they’re in town on October 23, you can get a chance to see Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Lane Hutson, and potential superstar rookie Ivan Demidov.
If you’re into the Connor versus Connor battle, Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks are in town on November 1. You might get a chance to see Bedard’s insane wrist shot in action.
Shortly after on November 8, the Colorado Avalanche play in Edmonton with a chance to see Nathan Mackinnon and Cale Makar for what is usually a high flying offensive game.
A couple of high calibre snipers trek through Edmonton in December. Kirill Kaprizov and the Minnesota Wild are in town on December 2, while David Pastrnak and the Boston Bruins were given the New Year’s Eve game for 2025.
Late January is a time to circle on your calendars. On January 22, the Pittsburgh Penguins are in town with Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang hopefully all in the lineup. There are rumblings that this may be Malkin’s last season in the NHL. Similarly, two days later on January 24, the Washington Capitals play the Oilers with what might be our last chance to watch Alexander Ovechkin in Edmonton.
Next, Macklin Celebrini and the San Jose Sharks take a trip through Edmonton on January 29 with Kaprizov and the Wild back for round two on January 31.
One of the loudest games of the year is always when the Toronto Maple Leafs occupy Rogers Place. They will be in Edmonton on February 3, for us to see Auston Matthews and William Nylander.
Celebrini is back on March 17, while the Tampa Bay Lightning’s star studded core of Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, Victor Hedman, and Andrei Vasilevskiy are in Edmonton on March 21.
And finally in April, Bedard and the Blackhawks are in Edmonton on April two while Mackinnon and Makar lead the Avalanche back to Rogers Place in the second last game of the season on April 13.
