Blackhawks 2025-26 Player Grades: Sacha Boisvert

Boisvert joined the Blackhawks after an underwhelming sophomore season at Boston University. Following a spectacular freshman campaign at North Dakota, Boisvert battled injuries and ended up with a sophomore season that left a lot to be desired. Regardless, he turned pro after the season and joined the Blackhawks in late March. Due to some visa issues, Boisvert took some time to debut. In addition, he didn’t play every game down the stretch.

Boisvert ended the season with seven games played and a goal and an assist to his name on the scoresheet. Boisvert played largely on the fourth line in limited action and it was clear that he simply wasn’t ready for the NHL physically. It appears that has improved, as Boisvert beefed up to 205 pounds during the offseason.

Player Grades

Blackhawks Cowboy’s Grade: C

There were two Chicago Blackhawks to make their debut with the team. Sacha Boisvert was one of them, and his contributions were more subtle. Nothing really jumped out in Boisvert’s game, and to be fair, Boisvert was coming from a train wreck at Boston University. The college sophomore was far from a liability, and as his time with Chicago went on, he looked much more comfortable to the point he had two points in his last three games. Likely playing with Rockford for most of next year, it was a good look at a first-rounder coming up through the system.

Tony Marchese’s Grade: C

It was a small cup of coffee for Boisvert, who had all sorts of “drama” surrounding his exit from Boston University, but he definitely made the most of his seven games in the Blackhawks lineup, scoring one goal and tallying one assist during his first stint at the NHL level. I expect we will see Boisvert begin the year with Rockford next season, but he will provide the Hawks forward group some depth at points next year.

Ron Luce’s Grade: C-

It was a short-lived stretch for Sacha Boisvert with the Hawks, and the youngster didn’t get a whole lot of time to showcase his skill. He tallied a nice goal for the first of his career, but underwhelmed overall and was a healthy scratch fairly often. That said, I fully expect Boisvert to play in all meaningful situations next season with Rockford, lending to his development and hopefully showcasing his skill that we got a taste of during his freshman season at North Dakota.

What’s On Tap Next?

With an improved physique, Boisvert is primed for a lot of minutes in the AHL next season. The Rockford IceHogs will be a young group and Boisvert figures to be a big part of that as he looks to grow into his professional game.
