Byram, 25, recorded a career-high 42 points in 82 games with Buffalo this year. He possesses elite skating ability and will likely be tasked with manning Chicago’s top power play unit.
As for the Sabres, Byram was rumored to be asking for north of $10 million on his next contract, and this move gives them cap flexibility and the chance at an elite prospect at fourth overall. Byram is entering the final year of his $6.25 million deal, and is eligible for extension on July 1.
