Blackhawks Play Vegas Close But Lose Fifth Straight Game

Frank Nazar really tried to help the Blackhawks in their 2-0 loss to Vegas Tuesday night. But even his efforts early weren’t enough to not only help the Hawks, but get them on the board.

Petr Mrazek had 32 saves but it just wasn’t enough in a game that was scoreless until Vegas finally solved Mrazek late in the second period. The Golden Knights added another in the final frame and were a crossbar away from a third marker.

The same story unfolded Tuesday night as it has so many other times this season–the Blackhawks simply couldn’t score goals to stay in it until it was too late. Jason Dickinson notched his 22nd while Bedard added his 61st point of the season via an assist.

Blackhawks Struggle To Help Mrazek

Mrazek did what he has all season long which is keep the Blackhawks in games they should have been out of ridiculously early. He’s making deft saves near the end of the game and it was only an empty net goal that finally gave Vegas breathing room in the final minute of the contest.

So goes another loss, as the Hawks staggered to their fifth straight loss and look to stop the bleeding to head into the offseason with a win and some semblance of momentum.

What has kept Blackhawks fans engaged near the end has been the storylines involving younger players arriving who will likely make up the core of the team later on.

Ethan Del Mastro, Frank Nazar, and Landon Slaggert all added some intrigue to power through a season that now has 53 losses in the ledger. The season wraps up in Los Angeles on Thursday.
