The Chicago Blackhawks recalled defenseman Ian Mitchell on Thursday. They also placed Jarred Tinordi on injured reserve with a hip injury.

Ian Mitchell

The third-year defenseman hasn't played more than 10 games since the 2020-21 season. Mitchell sports a career-plus/minus of -17 and only has eight points (three goals, five assists) in 49 NHL games.

Ian Mitchell dealt with a wrist injury to begin the season before the Blackhawks sent him back to Rockford. After increased playing time in the AHL, Mitchell looks to get back into the top level of hockey and carve out a role on the Blackhawks' blue line.

Jarred Tinordi

Jarred Tinordi is a 30-year-old NHL veteran. He has appeared in 20 games with the Blackhawks since being claimed off waivers just before the season started.

Tinordi, who has two goals and three assists so far, will now head to injured reserve. He's dealing with a hip injury that has caused him to miss the Blackhawks' last two games. The timing of his return is in question, but he will be out for at least a week, according to head coach Luke Richardson.

The Chicago Blackhawks are back in action Saturday when they visit the New York Rangers. The Hawks will look to secure their seventh win of the season and crawl out of the basement of the Central Division.
