The first batch of players for the 2024 NHL All-Star game was announced Thursday, and rookie phenom Connor Bedard will represent the Chicago Blackhawks at the event. Bedard becomes the youngest player in NHL history to be named an All-Star.
Despite the Blackhawks' team struggles in another rebuilding season, Bedard is living up to his "generational talent" billing. Through 37 NHL games, the North Vancouver native has 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists) to lead the Blackhawks and all rookies.
Recently, Bedard took home the NHL Rookie of the Month award for December. It was his second straight month earning the honor. A constant presence in NHL highlight reels, Bedard's dazzling moments have drawn praise from Wayne Gretzky.
Connor Bedard will likely be the Blackhawks' only representative at the 2024 NHL All-Star Game, but that's not set in stone. Thursday's announcement included 32 players — one from each team. Fan voting will determine the 12 remaining spots.
The 2024 NHL All-Star festivities will take place from Feb. 1-3 in Toronto, Ontario. The game itself is set for Saturday, Feb. 3 at 2 PM CT.
