Blackhawks to Scratch Ian Mitchell, Make 2 Other Lineup Changes vs. Vegas
Wendell Cruz-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Blackhawks will make a few lineup changes Thursday against the Vegas Golden Knights. Of note, Caleb Jones will replace Ian Mitchell on the blue line.

Mitchell, who is looking to finally stick in the NHL, played in the Hawks' last three games. He posted one assist, two shots, and a -2 rating while averaging 16:43 of ice time during that span.

Jones missed those contests due to hip tightness, but he's feeling better and will draw back into the lineup Thursday. He skated on the third pair with Jack Johnson during Blackhawks practice on Wednesday.

In the forward group, Andreas Athanasiou will return against Vegas after missing Tuesday's game due to a family funeral. The speedy winger will replace Reese Johnson in the Blackhawks' lineup.

Finally, Arvid Soderblom will start in net against the Golden Knights. Petr Mrazek had a rough go of it Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. In his return from a groin injury, Mrazek allowed seven goals — including Alexander Ovechkin's historic 800th career tally — on 30 shots for a .767 save percentage.

The Chicago Blackhawks will look to snap a four-game losing streak when the Vegas Golden Knights visit the United Center on Thursday. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM CT and the game will air on NBC Sports Chicago.
