Back Like He Never Left

Since July, the streets of Chicago have echoed with news of Patrick Kane’s return. Thursday was another step as Kane took the ice for the first time with his new teammates and old team. Kane said it’s great to be back, even if things look different.

“A lot of it is so familiar in a lot of ways, and then you get out there on the ice, and you look at all the players out there, and everyone’s completely different. Different coaches, different players, so different in that way. But yeah, so exciting. Great to be back at camp. Great to get this thing rolling.” (per Charlie Roumeliotis)

And according to Mario Tirabassi, “Showtime” has not lost his swagger. During breakout drills, Kane tried his signature spin-o-rama off the rush. It’s as lethal as ever.

A Connor Bedard Update

After Day 1 wrapped, players and staff took questions from the media. Kyle Davidson fielded the inevitable Connor Bedard questions. For those catching up, the new Chicago Blackhawks captain injured his shoulder in July during offseason training.

Davidson said Bedard’s rehab has been coming along and that he has “checked every box so far.” The general manager also noted that “…in terms of an altered timeline, either positive or negative, we’re not there yet, but he’s checking every box so far.”

Until Bedard’s return, Frank Nazar will center line one with Roman Kantserov and Patrick Kane on his wings.
