For the first time, the Blackhawks will don red as their primary color for an NHL outdoor game, marking a departure from their traditional white and black outdoor attire. This design choice offers fans a "new chapter" and celebrates the team's upcoming centennial in grand style.
According to Fanatics' senior creative director Dom Fillion, who spoke with ESPN, designing this jersey involved close collaboration with the team. The choice of red was one among many, but it stood out as a significant nod to the Blackhawks' rich history. Incorporating the Chicago flag's stars into the jersey's crest pays homage to the city, while "vintage cream" as a secondary color adds a nostalgic touch.
The official release of the jersey comes nearly three months after images of the jersey were leaked online. Fans can purchase jerseys and other officially licensed Winter Classic gear on Fanatics' website.
