Rosen, 31, will report to the Blues’ AHL affiliate, the Springfield Thunderbirds, returning to familiar surroundings. A native of Växjö, Sweden, Rosen previously spent three seasons in St. Louis, appearing in 73 NHL games and recording 26 points while also contributing 51 points in 108 games with the Thunderbirds. This season, he has seven points in nine games with the Capitals’ AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
Schueneman, 30, will join Hershey and has been off to a strong start with Springfield, tallying six points in nine games and leading the team’s defensemen in scoring. The Milford, Michigan native has played 35 career NHL games with St. Louis and Montreal, recording seven points, and has amassed 116 points across 316 AHL contests.
The swap also included a forward move: Sam Bitten joins Hershey from Springfield for future considerations. Both organizations framed the deal as a way to balance depth at the AHL level while giving each player a fresh opportunity in familiar systems. Rosen’s return to St. Louis is a homecoming, while Schueneman will aim to establish himself in Washington’s minor-league pipeline.
