Blues defenseman Torey Krug out for 'some time' with lower-body injury

The St. Louis Blues dropped Game 3 to the Minnesota Wild, 5-1, falling behind in the best-of-seven first-round playoff series, 2-1.

However, Game 3 wasn't all the Blues lost, as defenseman Torey Krug left the contest with a lower-body injury.

On Saturday, head coach Craig Berube revealed that the injury would keep Krug out for "some time."

"It's unfortunate," Berube said, via Chris Pinkert of NHL.com. "We've got to try to do what we can do, control what we can do, guys have to go in there and guys have to do the job. [Krug] has ran that powerplay now for quite some time and it's been very successful. He's not around, so somebody else has got to come in and do the job."

Krug suffered the injury near the halfway mark of the opening period on Friday; he left the game and did not return.

The 31-year-old has three assists during the playoffs, averaging just over 14 minutes of ice time.

In 64 regular-season games for the Blues, Krug tallied nine goals and 34 assists and was a plus-23.

Krug being out is a massive loss for the Blues. St. Louis is already without Nick Leddy and Robert Bortuzzo along the blue line; both are out with upper-body injuries.

The Blues will host Minnesota for Game 4 on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
