Blues rule out Jordan Binnington for remainder of second round after Game 3 collision

The St. Louis Blues have confirmed that goaltender Jordan Binnington will miss the remainder of their second-round series against the Colorado Avalanche after he suffered a lower-body injury Saturday.

Binnington, 28, left in the first period of Game 3 after he was barreled over by both Colorado's Nazem Kadri and his Blues teammate Calle Rosen.

With Binnington out of action, the Blues turned to Ville Husso, who gave up four goals in the 5-2 loss.

After the game, Blues coach Craig Berube declined to discuss the play much, but he told reporters to "look at Kadri's reputation." Binnington was frustrated enough with the play that he threw a water bottle at Kadri while the latter was being interviewed on TNT.

According to Bally Sports Midwest reporter Andy Strickland, the NHL isn't planning to levy a punishment against Kadri as the league reportedly believes it was contact with Rosen that caused the collision.

Husso began the playoffs as the Blues' starter, but was replaced by Binnington after allowing nine goals in a pair of losses against the Minnesota Wild. Binnington then allowed only five goals over a three-game win streak to lead St. Louis to a series victory.
