The trade deadline is fast approaching. The Boston Bruins are currently holding the last wild card spot in the Eastern Conference and looking to add to make a push for the playoffs. One name has been circulated, and the Bruins are reportedly in on him, and that is forward Conor Garland from the Vancouver Canucks. Garland is from Scituate, Massachusetts, so it would be a homecoming for him if the Bruins were able to acquire him. The likely return for Garland has been rumored to be a first-round pick and a prospect, which may be the hesitation from the Bruins, but he would be a great fit. He’s also under contract until the end of the 2031-32 season and carries a six-million cap hit starting after this season. Garland, this season, has a $4.95 million cap hit. Next season also comes with a no movement clause, so moving him now for Vancouver would be much easier. The 29-year-old forward this season in 49 games has 26 points on seven goals and 19 assists. He’s a -14 with a power-play goal, a shorthanded goal, and a game-winning goal.

Wrap Up

The Bruins face the Penguins tonight, then they’ll face the Predators on Thursday before the deadline on Friday. They hold the final wild card spot by two points over the Capitals, but also have three games in hand on Washington, whereas the Blue Jackets are three points behind. They have some teams to hold off to make the playoffs, so look for them to be adding, and it’ll certainly be interesting to see which direction they go with to improve this roster.
