Boston Bruins Make First Round of Roster Cuts

The Boston Bruins today following last night’s 3-2 shootout win over the Washington Capitals trimmed their preseason roster by eight. They sent eight players to their AHL affiliate the Providence Bruins who opened training camp today. The eight heading to Providence are forwards, Wyatt Bongiovanni, Kalle Vaisanen, defenseman Max Wanner, Loke Johansson, Tobie Paquette-Bisson, and goalies Luke Cavallin and Max Lundgren. The eighth was forward Navrin Mutter who cleared waivers today.

None of the players listed appeared in last night’s game against Washington. The two goalies also give Providence goalies for training camp as they announced their roster this morning and it only featured 13 players with nine forwards and four defensemen. Cavallin is a name to watch for the Providence goaltending job.

The Bruins roster at training camp is now down to 41 with today’s moves. They have 24 forwards, 13 defenseman, and four goalies. The Bruins next preseason game will be tomorrow night against the Philadelphia Flyers at the TD Garden in Boston, MA. Following that they’ll have two preseason games remaining with those being back-to-back games on the road with one against the Flyers and the other against the Capitals. The Bruins will begin the 2026-27 regular season on Tuesday September 29 against the New York Rangers at the TD Garden.
