Boston Bruins Predicted to Land Rasmus Andersson

As the Calgary Flames continue their offseason, much of the talk about the team has been centered around defenseman Rasmus Andersson. Andersson has wanted a new contract, and so far, nothing has materialized between the two sides.

This has caused trade rumors to swirl, and the Flames could elect to move Andersson for some future assets. Multiple teams have inquired about the star defenseman, and Calgary's front office has some tough decisions to make.

Boston Bruins Could Trade for Rasmus Andersson

NHL writer Adam Gretz of Bleacher Report listed a few teams that could trade for Andersson, with the Boston Bruins making the cut. Boston needs more help on defense, and Andersson could bolster the blueline.

"But the defense is also lacking in quality depth, as they found out a year ago when both Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm missed significant playing time due to injuries.

"The return of both players with better health this season will make a world of difference, but they still need a lot more help on the right side, where the depth chart includes only McAvoy, Henri Jokiharju and Andrew Peeke. That's not good enough if the Bruins have any intention of trying to compete this season," Gretz wrote.

Adding Andersson to the mix could help the Bruins get back to the postseason, which is the main goal of the team for the year. Andersson could net a nice contract from Boston, and the Bruins could land a very serviceable defenseman for years to come.

Last season with the Flames, Andersson put up 11 goals and 20 assists over 81 regular-season games played. His offensive presence could give this Bruins team some extra firepower, helping them to be more formidable on the ice.

Both sides could benefit from this deal, and it's something that each should at least consider doing.
