The 24-year-old goalie spent his early career playing in Czechia, where he was before joining the Bruins. In 2023-24, Zajicek appeared in one international game for Czechia. He went 0-1-0 posting a 4.00 goals-against average and a .933 save percentage. In 2024-25, the season before he joined Providence, he appeared in 29 games for HC Litvinov in Czechia. In 29 games, he went 15-13-0 with a 2.12 goals-against average, a .930 save percentage, and five shutouts. He appeared in two international games, going 2-0-0 with two shutouts. In three playoff games for HC Litvinov, he went 1-2-0 with a 2.63 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.

Providence Goaltending

Providence had one of the best goaltending tandems in all of the American Hockey League. Michael DiPietro finished first in the AHL in goals-against average and save percentage. Zajicek, because he only played in 21 games due to injuries, didn’t finish as a qualified goalie, but if he did, he would have been tenth in goals-against average and tied for sixth in save percentage. Among rookie goalies, he would have been third in save percentage and third in goals-against average.

Zajicek will likely be in Providence but could take the starter’s role if DiPietro is in Boston in 2026-27.
