On Monday, a heartwarming story involving Brad Marchand went viral, but today, he has denied any truth to the story, even though it made him look great.

Brad Marchand has been on fire throughout these Stanley Cup Playoffs for the Florida Panthers, and with six goals in the Finals thus far, it appears he's firming as the favourite for the Conn Smythe Award.

Things got even better for the Panthers veteran, with a recent story surfacing on social media involving a neighbour, with Marchand rewarding his good deed with tickets to the Stanley Cup Finals.

This story was shared by Bleacher Report and many in the hockey community, but there was only one problem. According to Marchand, the story was completely made up.

Since this point, Bleacher Report have deleted their post about the story from social media, and it's not yet been made clear why the story was made up, and while the story made Marchand look good, denying the truth of it makes him look even better, as he simply could have not told the truth and got plenty of praise from fans.

This was definitely something that Marchand didn't expect to be dealing with as he and the rest of the team prepare for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on home ice, but with a quick statement, the veteran simply denied that this happened without providing any more details or comments.

Now, all the focus remains on potentially closing out the Stanley Cup Finals at home, and after dominating two of the past three games in this series, optimism is high as Marchand looks to capture the Cup for the first time in 14 years and for the first time as a member of the Panthers.
