Brad Marchand has a long history of playoff matchups against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and he hit another dagger in Toronto's heart during the overtime of Game 3, scoring the game-winning goal for the Florida Panthers.

Marchand, who turns 37 on Sunday, delivered the winner at 15:27 of the extra frame, wrapping up the Panthers' 5-4 win over the Maple Leafs and cutting Toronto's lead in half with the second-round series now sitting at 2-1 entering Game 4.

The veteran's game-winning goal marked the 14th playoff game-winner of his career—the most among active NHL players.

“He's energetic, and obviously, you see what he does on the ice. He’s such a great player, and he’s been around for so long,” Carter Verhaeghe said before getting interrupted by Marchand, sitting next to him.

“He’s a playoff performer, and he scores big goals at big moments, Verhaeghe continued. "He’s done it all. Won a Stanley Cup. He brings so much life and energy to our group.”

Right after that, Marchand leaned in and reminded his teammate to also say what he'd told him a few seconds before.

“Good looking too,” Verhaeghe added, echoing Marchand's whispers.

The Panthers faced 2-0 and 3-1 deficits but clawed back both times, first with an Alexander Barkov goal to make it 2-1, then scoring three unanswered goals before Morgan Rielly's third-period tally sent the game to overtime.

Marchand’s winner, however, capped the full comeback victory with the team in sore need of it to avoid falling into an insurmountable 3-0 hole.

“In overtime, there’s no bad shot you can put on the net,” Marchand said.

Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday night in Sunrise as the Panthers will look to even the series against the Maple Leafs before they move back to Toronto for Game 5. Puck drop in Game 4 is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
