Let’s talk about Brendan Gallagher. This morning, on BPM Sports, Renaud Lavoie talked about the forward and his importance to the Montreal Canadiens as a veteran of the club. It happened in his second segment of the morning show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96ndicgJFhw Renaud Lavoie, who’s good at coming up with relevant information every morning on air with Anthony Desaulniers, Anthony Marcotte and Gilbert Delorme, talked a little about the veteran market. From what angle? He wanted to talk about the fact that a few months ago, Brendan Gallagher’s name had been circulating in the rumour mill. David Pagnotta had mentioned that the Habs had made Gally available on the market, and he said: “
There
‘
s no way the Canadiens want to part with Brendan Gallagher. The organization’s respect for this guy is very, very high.

[content-ads]Desaulniers then asked him if there was really demand for a guy who doesn’t play up to his $6.5 million-a-year contract… and Lavoie told him: you’d be surprised. In other words? The #11’s reputation is good across the NHL, and if he were available, clubs would be sniffing around. I also have my doubts as to whether Gallagher could really be traded (even with a salary cap hit), but I have no doubt that he’s loved in Montreal and that the club doesn’t see the advantage of sending him elsewhere.
And he’s not just loved by management and the guys in the dressing room…
When Brendan Gallagher’s mom passed away earlier this year, a kind @CanadiensMTL fan offered to return his old Hockey Fights Cancer jersey from 2022 in her memory.
Tonight, they got the opportunity to meet on the ice and swap jerseys.

Since he’s a little pest on the ice and earns a lot of money, I really think his best value is here. And I don’t see why Gally, who loves the Habs and married a Québécois, would want to leave, now that the Habs are coming out of their rebuild . The young wolves have to rely on veterans in the dressing room and Gally is part of the equation. With Josh Anderson last year, they showed the youngsters the way despite injuries and bereavements. #Culture[spacer title=’Overtime’]- Excellent question.
