Brossoit Shines Against Former Team in 4-0 Shutout Against Oilers

In their first game out of the All-Star break on Tuesday, most assumed Robin Lehner would be in between the pipes for the Vegas Golden Knights, however it was Laurent Brossoit who led the team out of the tunnel. Brossoit would then record his first shutout of the season.

Brossoit, 28, was making just his second start since Jan. 2 as he was forced to miss some time with an upper-body injury. Despite the limited action lately however, he was fantastic on Tuesday against his former team in the Edmonton Oilers, kicking aside all 28 shots he faced.

“I definitely was juiced up to play this one,” Brossoit said postgame. “I don’t think I’ve won against Edmonton since moving on from them, so it felt nice tonight to win and of course to get a shutout meant even more.”

It was a nice sight to see the shutout from Brossoit, who has had his ups and downs during his first season as a Golden Knight. Through 16 games played, he owns a 2.66 goals against average along with a .905 save percentage. Perhaps this start is able to really get him going, as this team could use better goaltending from both him and Robin Lehner in the second half of the season.

With the 4-0 victory over the Oilers, the Golden Knights see their record improve to 28-16-3 on the year, and have a four-point cushion on their first place standing in the Pacific Division. It would come as a major surprise if they didn’t stay in that exact spot by the time the postseason rolls around.
