The Boston Bruins organization is keeping a familiar face around through the next season, signing goaltender Luke Cavallin to a one-year, two-way contract extension through the upcoming season.

The 25-year-old’s new deal will feature an NHL cap hit of $850,000 and will see him serve as a minor league depth option, with hopes that he may be able to progress beyond the ECHL in the regular season.

Last season, Cavallin played eight games with the AHL’s Providence Bruins, helping push the team to six wins while posting a .910 save percentage. However, he spent most of the season with the Maine Mariners in the ECHL, where he played 34 games and posted an 18-10-5 record and a .917 save percentage.

Previously, he also played for the Trois-Rivières Lions and Newfoundland Growlers in the ECHL before his time with the Mariners. In total, he has taken to the ice in 125 ECHL games, keeping a .920 save percentage through that spell. He also backstopped Trois-Rivières to the 2025 Kelly Cup title, stepping up to post a .948 save percentage in 20 playoff contests.

Prior to his time as a North American professional, the native of Swindon, England, played for Italy’s Rittner Buam in the AlpsHL, marking a brief step into the professional ranks while the OHL dealt with the COVID-impacted seasons.

Outside of his own playing career, Cavallin also comes from a hockey-focused family, with brother Adam enjoying an OHL career before playing at Maryville University in the NCAA, and father Mark having played overseas for most of his career.

Cavallin will join the Bruins for training camp to start the fall, but could be most likely to play in the ECHL this season, with the Mariners set to open the 2026-27 campaign on the road against the Worcester Railers on Oct. 17.
