Bruins Sign Fraser Minten to Long-Term Contract Extension

The Boston Bruins took care of some business on Tuesday, inking forward Fraser Minten to a seven-year contract extension. The deal will run through the 2033-34 season with an annual cap hit of $7.2 million.

“We are excited to have signed Fraser to a long-term extension,” said Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney. “Since joining our organization, Fraser has continued to grow and earn the accelerated trust of his teammates and coaching staff. His hockey sense, competitiveness, responsible two-way game, and offensive growth make him a valuable player for our group. This is a mutual long-term commitment that reflects our confidence in Fraser and the important role he will play, as well as Fraser’s belief in our team moving forward.”

Minten enjoyed a breakout 2025-26 season with Boston, appearing in all 82 games and setting career highs with 17 goals, 18 assists and 35 points. He led NHL rookies with a plus-21 rating and earned January’s Rookie of the Month honors after scoring eight goals and 14 points. Minten also won NESN’s 7th Player Award for exceeding fan expectations.

The contract represents the team’s confidence that he’ll continue to develop. Otherwise, $7.2 million per season, even in a rising cap era, is a lot for a 35-point player.

The former Toronto Maple Leafs was traded as part of the deal that brought Brandon Carlo to Toronto. It was a deal that has worked out well for the Bruins, and Carlo is no longer with the Maple Leafs, having moved on to the St. Louis Blues. The 22-year-old was entering the final year of his three-year entry-level contract.
