Bruins sign Trent Frederic to two-year deal

Boston Bruins forward Trent Frederic won't be going anywhere.

Boston general manager Don Sweeney announced Friday that the Bruins have signed Frederic to a two-year contract that carries an annual salary-cap hit of $1.05 million.

Per CBS Boston, the 23-year-old was due to become a restricted free agent following the upcoming Stanley Cup Final.

Frederic tallied four goals and one assist in 42 regular-season games with the Bruins in 2020-21 for his first NHL points. He joined the organization via the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and made his league debut in January 2019.

He did not log any minutes for Boston during the playoffs.

From 2017-2020, Frederic appeared in 127 games for the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League and totaled 27 goals and 38 assists over that period.

Boston finished the regular season third in the NHL East standings and defeated the Washington Capitals in the first round of the playoffs before falling to the New York Islanders in six games in the subsequent series.
