Dustin Wolf starred for the Calgary Flames in 2024/25, and now, they're on the verge of signing him to a big-time extension ahead of the new season.
The Calgary Flames fought hard for a post-season spot last season, but at the end of the day, it was a tie-breaker with the St. Louis Blues that kept them out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
One of the biggest reasons for that success was goaltender Dustin Wolf, who took over as the team's unquestioned No. 1 early in the season, becoming a star quickly by posting a 2.64 GAA and a .910 save percentage over 53 games played.
Now, the team are eyeing a long-term extension with the superstar 24-year old, with Wolf recently addressing potential extension talks, noting that it's likely to happen soon.
'They're working, that's about all I can really tell you. There's talks, but nothing really confirmed yet. I'd love to stay here and I think they want me to stay here, as well. So as soon as something comes to fruition where both of us like where we're at, I'm sure it won't be long after that point where pen will be to paper.'
With the Flames seeking a star to lead them into a very successful future, Wolf has emerged as their top prospect and a genuine star at the NHL level, and with the team continuing their rebuild, he's the perfect player to lead them forward.
It's unclear if a deal will get done before next season or not, but as of right now, all signs are looking good with the organization, so now we will wait and see when a new contract can officially be inked.
