The American Hockey League announced its 2024-25 regular season schedule on Thursday afternoon. And with that came the schedule for the third season of existence for the Calgary Flames’ AHL farm club, the Calgary Wranglers.

The Wranglers will play 72 games, 36 home and 36 away, with their home dates taking place at the luxurious Scotiabank Saddledome. As with the 2023-24 season, the Wranglers will play primarily against their nine Pacific Division counterparts, plus the Central Division’s Manitoba Moose.

Here is the full breakdown of season series included in their schedule, along with their record against that opponent last season.

Divisional Match-ups:

  • 12 games against the Abbotsford Canucks (Vancouver) (5-4-3)
  • 8 games against the Coachella Valley Firebirds (Seattle) (2-5-1)
  • 8 games against the Henderson Silver Knights (Vegas) (4-0-0)
  • 8 games against the Ontario Reign (Los Angeles) (3-4-1)
  • 8 games against the San Diego Gulls (Anaheim) (2-2-0)
  • 8 games against the Tucson Roadrunners (Utah) (2-2-0)
  • 4 games against the Bakersfield Condors (Edmonton) (4-3-1)
  • 4 games against the Colorado Eagles (Colorado) (6-2-0)
  • 4 games against the San Jose Barracuda (San Jose) (3-5-0)

Non-Divisional Match-ups:

  • 8 games against the Manitoba Moose (Winnipeg) (4-1-3)

(Compared to 2023-24’s schedule, the Wranglers play four fewer games against Bakersfield and Colorado and four more games against San Diego and Tucson.)

The Wranglers’ home-opener will be Oct. 11 against the Abbotsford Canucks.

If you’re a rapid Flames and Wranglers fans hoping to rekindle some playoff animosity against their 2024 Calder Cup opponents… uh… it’ll be awhile. They host Tucson for the first time on Dec. 6 & 7, while it’s not until Mar. 4 & 5 that they host Coachella Valley.

The Wranglers’ longest homestand is eight games, from Oct. 25 to Nov. 10. It’s followed by their longest road trip, from Nov. 16 to Dec. 1, featuring stops in such exotic locales as San Jose, San Diego, Tucson… and Winnipeg.

They’ll host eight Friday night games (all at 7 p.m. MT), six Saturday games (one at 1:30 p.m. MT, four at 6 p.m. MT and one at 7 p.m. MT) and eight Sunday games (one at noon MT, the rest at 1 p.m. MT). The majority of the home games during the week are slated for 7 p.m. MT starts, except for 6 p.m. MT on Oct. 31 and Dec. 30, 2 p.m. MT on Jan. 2, and 1 p.m. MT on Feb. 17. It’s the club’s third season in Calgary, and they’re still testing out different scheduling options to optimize the Wranglers’ placement in the local sports ecosystem.

Based on what’s been announced by the leagues, there are four double-headers on the schedule: Jan. 5, Jan. 26 and Mar. 23 (featuring the Wranglers and Hitmen) and Apr. 5 (featuring the Wranglers and Flames). The Saddledome will be a busy building throughout the 2024-25 season, but that means there’s plenty of hockey for fans to consume.
