Start filling out your calendars, folks.
On Thursday, the American Hockey League released the schedule for its 2026-27 regular season. As part of that release they announced the fixtures for the fifth season for the Calgary Flames’ AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers.
Like all other AHL clubs, the Wranglers will play 72 games: 36 in the Scotiabank Saddledome and 36 on the road. As is typical, they’re playing a pretty division-heavy schedule.
The Wranglers will face the same opponents in 2026-27 as they did in 2025-26, but the composition of their schedule has shifted a bit from last season. Here’s the opposition breakdown!
Divisional Match-ups:
Non-Divisional Match-ups:
The Wranglers kick off their season at home on Oct. 2 when they host Abbotsford. The Baby Canucks will also be the Wranglers’ opponent in their annual winter theme game, Winter Wranglerfest, on Dec. 20. Their final regular season game at the Saddledome will be Apr. 4 against San Jose.
In a bit of a departure from prior seasons, the Wranglers don’t have any terrifyingly-long road trips. Their longest jaunt away from home is six games, from Oct. 14 in San Jose to Oct. 25 in Abbotsford. They also have a pair of five game treks, but nothing like last season’s 10-game behemoth. Their longest homestand is six games, spanning Dec. 12-30.
The 2026-27 campaign is potentially a bounce-back season for the Wranglers after missing the playoffs in 2025-26 for the first time since moving to Calgary – that snapped a four-season streak of the Flames’ farm team making it to the Calder Cup playoffs dating back to their last season in Stockton. They’ll have a lot of new faces on their roster, including a new captain after Clark Bishop’s departure in free agency, so we’ll see if that translates to better results on the scoreboard and in the standings.
