A past transaction between the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers is making waves. Everyone said it was an insignificant trade back on Dec. 6, when Montreal GM Kent Hughes traded Jacob Perreault in exchange for Noel Hoefenmayer.

However this transaction is now having a significant impact on young Logan Mailloux.

As reported by Anthony Marcotte of BPM Sports, the player acquired from Edmonton has 'pushed' Mailloux out of the Rocket's power play in the AHL.

More and more, Hoefenmayer is taking Mailloux's minutes, and it's having a significant impact on the Logan's production.

This transaction is, therefore, a blow to Mailloux.

Hoefenmayer, 25, is a 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman who has tallied one point in three games this season with the Laval Rocket. Before that, he had accumulated seven points in 11 games with the Oilers' farm team, the Bakersfield Condors.

Mailloux, 21, is a 6-foot-3, 213-pound defenseman and has recorded 15 points in 23 games this season with Laval, as well as three points in five games with the Canadiens.

This will be a situation to monitor in the coming weeks within the Canadiens' organization.

Let's truly hope that Mailloux can bounce back because we all know his immense potential, and he could really become a key player, long-term, for the Canadiens.
