Canadiens Offer Injury Update and Timeline on Noah Dobson

Defenseman Noah Dobson sustained an upper-body injury and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. This means he will miss the start of the Montreal Canadiens’ playoffs. Dobson left the game with an apparent thumb injury caused by blocking a shot.

This is a big loss for the Canadiens, especially if it lasts longer than the two weeks.

“He plays big minutes, great on breakout, transition, o-zone,” said head coach Martin St. Louis. “He can do it all. I was surprised that he leads the league in blocked shots, so that’s another thing. He brings a lot.”

Dobson plays close to 23 minutes a game, usually against the opposition’s best players, and he’s posted 12 goals, 47 points, and a plus-five rating.

Dobson is known for blocking shots. He’s blocked 188 of them this season. When asked about why and the pride he takes in it, he noted, “As a player you take pride (in it) and it’s a big part of the game. Any chance you can sacrifice your body and make it a little easier on your goalies, it’s super important.”

Announcement from the Canadiens is obviously unfortunate. The two-week timeline could be longer, and he will be re-evaluated at that time.
