Canadiens Sign Zachary Bolduc to 4-Year Contract Extension

The Montreal Canadiens have signed Zachary Bolduc to a four-year contract extension, as per a report by NHL insider Elliotte Friedman. Early reactions are that this is another solid deal from GM Kent Hughes, who continues to make shrewd moves. With the Bolduc signing, the Canadiens now have roughly $4.3 million in remaining cap space with a 22-man roster.

This contract extension ends a summer-long standoff that stretched deep into the offseason. The 23-year-old winger, born in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, came to Montreal in a swap of young players — dealt by St. Louis for defenseman Logan Mailloux in July 2025. Bolduc had a breakout rookie season with the Blues, scoring 19 goals in 72 games, but his first year with the Canadiens was streakier, netting just 12 goals before turning it on in the playoffs with seven points in 19 games.

At 6-foot-1, 174 pounds, he’s a physical, shot-first winger the Canadiens see as part of their long-term forward core alongside Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Ivan Demidov.

The news comes just hours after it was learned the Canadiens signed Chris Kreider to a one-year team-friendly deal.
