Nils Höglander underwent successful surgery to repair a core muscle/groin injury. There is no timeline for his return.
Horvat suffered the injury on Thursday in Vancouver's 7-1 win over the Arizona Coyotes. Horvat blocked a shot from the point in the second period and did not return.
The Canucks didn't reveal the severity of Horvat's injury, but he'll be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Two weeks from Friday, Vancouver will play its season finale on the road against the Edmonton Oilers on March 29, meaning Horvat will miss the Canucks' remaining seven games.
Horvat's injury is untimely as Vancouver fights for one of two wild-card playoff spots in the Western Conference. The Canucks (37-28-10) are fifth in the Pacific Division, needing to leapfrog the Vegas Golden Knights (41-29-5) and either the Dallas Stars (42-27-5) or Nashville Predators (42-27-5) to qualify for the postseason.
The 27-year-old was having a solid season for the Canucks. Horvat scored a career-high 31 goals in 70 games, surpassing his previous high of 27 goals in the 2018-19 season. Meanwhile, his 52 points on the year are just nine points off his career-best of 61 points posted in 2018-19.
