Canucks’ Nils Hoglander out week-to-week with lower-body injury

Hoglander left the Canucks’ preseason game against the Calgary Flames Wednesday and did not return. His final shift came just a few minutes into the second period.

In 2024-25, Hoglander recorded eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 72 regular-season games. In five NHL seasons, he posted 58 goals and 57 assists for 115 points in 293 career regular-season games.

He’s also appeared in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games, scoring a goal and an assist for two points.

Taken in the second round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Hoglander spent three seasons in Sweden’s top domestic league with Rogle BK Angelholm, scoring 21 goals and recording 23 assists for 44 points.

Hoglander represented his native Sweden at the 2020 World Junior Championships, scoring five goals and recording six assists for 11 points.

The Canucks finished the 2024-25 season with a 38-30-14 record and 90 points, six points shy of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

Defenseman Quinn Hughes led the team in assists and points with 60 and 76, respectively. Forward Jake DeBrusk led the team in goals with 28, followed by a tie between forwards Pius Suter and Brock Boeser at 25.

Rick Tocchet, who spent parts of three seasons as the Canucks’ head coach, decided not to re-join the team after the 2024-25 campaign. He was soon hired by the Philadelphia Flyers, the team he played 11 seasons with as a player.
