Hughes, 22, had been at the NHL’s All-Star Game last weekend where his brother, Jack, played. Jack also entered COVID protocols. Quinn has been in the midst of another strong season, with his 34 points tying him for fifth in scoring among defensemen.
Canucks top executive Jim Rutherford spoke to CHEK TV’s Rick Dhaliwal, saying the news is a tough break for the team. Rutherford said the club is hopeful Hughes will return February 17. The 20-20-6 Canucks are fighting to remain in the playoff picture.
The team kicks off a three-game homestand this week with the Arizona Coyotes, New York Islanders and Toronto Maple Leafs visiting Rogers Arena.
