J.T. Miller is staying in Vancouver after all.

The deal will pay Miller an AAV of $8-million. Reports out of Vancouver had suggested that the Canucks were tepid on the term of a deal with Miller, but it’s clear those feelings changed.
Miller, 29, joined the Canucks in a June 22, 2019 deal that saw them trade a 2020 1st round pick, 2019 3rd round pick and Marek Mazanec to the Lightning in exchange for the forward. Since then, all Miller has done is produce.
In the 2019-20 season, Miller’s first with the Canucks, he scored what were then career-highs in goals (27) and points (72). This past year was far and away Miller’s best as he scored 32 goals, 67 assists and 99 points pushing his point-per-game totals in Vancouver over a point per game.
Miller’s new deal places him as one of the most valuable players in terms of average salary, as well as the most expensive player on the Canucks roster.
The signing signals a commitment under new GM Patrik Allvin to becoming a better team and one that can compete in a Pacific Division that could very well be wide open this season.
