The Carolina Hurricanes started the season red hot, winning their first five straight before suffering their first loss. Since that start, they are 1-2-0. Carolina is averaging 3.9 goals per game while allowing 2.6 goals per game. The Hurricanes have been looking for a winger, and today Frank Seravalli said that New York Rangers winger Artemi Panarin was a name to watch for Carolina if they want to be aggressive. The question came when answering about a potential Nazem Kadri to Carolina deal, and Seravalli said, “I don’t know, I can see Artemi Panarin as a Cane.” The Rangers are currently sitting at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division, and if they can’t get things turned around, they are a team to watch to start selling pieces off.

The Hurricanes are no strangers to early-season blockbusters. Last season, the Hurricanes acquired Mikko Rantanen in January and tried to get an extension done, but the two couldn’t agree, and he was ultimately moved to Dallas, which brought Logan Stankoven to Carolina. Panarin, this season in ten games, has seven points on two goals and five assists. Will the Rangers move one of their players to a division rival is the biggest question regarding this trade, but for the right price, they just might. The Hurricanes are certainly going to be active, and the names they get linked to will be interesting to watch. Panarin is just the beginning and will also be a big name splash for an already loaded Hurricanes team.
